Walking History Tour

  • Michael Phair Park 10124 104 Street Northwest Edmonton, Alberta, T5J 1A7 Canada (map)

This event explores the history of queer nightlife, revisiting some of the most well-known and lesser-known LGBTQ+ bars and gathering spaces of the past—from gay discos to lesbian bars and beyond. It highlights how these venues served as vital community hubs where people organized, protested, celebrated, and built connections.

The discussion reflects on the many roles these spaces played, from sites of activism and solidarity to places of joy, romance, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Through storytelling and reflection, the event examines how queer bars helped shape community life and cultural expression.
