Kick off some festive fun in Edmonton with a trip to the Holiday Drive by Horizon Drive in at Edmonton Valley Zoo
The Halloween screens have barely gone dark and Horizon Drive-In is already swapping in the tinsel. On Saturday, November 7, the pop-up drive-in at the Edmonton Valley Zoo runs a Christmas triple bill: Elf, Home Alone and Die Hard, back to back from early evening to late night.
Pick one, pick two, or crank the heat and stay for all three. Each screening is ticketed separately, and part of every ticket goes back to the zoo.
When: Saturday, November 7, 2026. Elf at 6 p.m., Home Alone at 8 p.m., Die Hard at 10 p.m.
Where: Edmonton Valley Zoo, 13315 Buena Vista Rd NW
Cost: $15 per person, per movie, plus GST and fees; kids 5 and under are free
Christmas Movies at the Drive-In in Edmonton, November 7th, 2026
Elf at Horizon Drive-In | 6:00 p.m
The early show is the one for the kids. Buddy's trip from the North Pole to New York is still the easiest Christmas movie to get the whole car to agree on.
At 6 p.m., the credits roll early enough that little ones can doze off in the back seat on the drive home.
Home Alone at Horizon Drive-In | 8:00 p.m.
Kevin McCallister versus the Wet Bandits, on a screen big enough to see every paint can coming.
The 8 p.m. slot works for older kids, date nights and anyone who already has “Keep the change, ya filthy animal” queued up for the group chat.
Die Hard at Horizon Drive-In | 10:00 p.m.
The late show settles the annual argument by putting it on the Christmas bill. John McClane, Nakatomi Plaza and Hans Gruber close out the night.
This is the grown-up slot, so it's a good one to book after the babysitter's confirmed.
