Edmonton artist Stephanie Jonsson, who has been teaching ceramics for more than 20 years, is running a hands-on workshop where you build your own gnome out of clay. It’s also a cookie jar.
No experience is needed. Over a five-hour session, you’ll shape your gnome from wet clay and make it your own, with a witch hat, a candy cane, a cookie in hand or your name. Classes are capped at six people, which makes it a good pick for a small holiday get-together.
Glazing happens in a second session of up to three hours, booked four to six weeks later. Instruction, materials, both firings and the glazing session are all included in the price. Weekend sessions run through mid-December, but later dates may not be ready before Christmas. Ages 18+.
