Based on Alison Bechdel's acclaimed 2006 graphic memoir, this Tony Award-winning musical (5 Tony Awards, including Best Musical) follows Alison as she looks back on her childhood, searching for a way to understand her brilliant, complicated, and elusive father.
Moving between Alison's childhood, her university years, and her adult life, the musical uncovers a family shaped by affection, artistry, and long-held secrets. As Alison begins to recognize the unexpected parallels between her life and her father's, memory becomes a means of seeing her parents — and herself — with greater clarity.
Presented by NUOVA Vocal Arts in partnership with Fringe Theatre. Music by Jeanine Tesori, book and lyrics by Lisa Kron, directed by Benjamin Smith.
