Alberta Craft brings a hands-on embroidery workshop to the 104th Street Farmers Market, guiding participants through creating a small scenic textile piece inspired by postcard imagery.
Instructor Darcy L. Hoover, trained at the Royal School of Needlework in London, teaches a traditional counted stitch technique, with live demonstrations and guidance on materials, tension, and thread choice throughout. It's beginner-friendly, and all materials are provided.
The session runs a minimum of three hours, with tables and good lighting set up for detailed handwork. Ball-ended needles and careful scissor handling keep things safe, and magnifying glasses are recommended for anyone who finds threading tricky.
Half the spots are held for advance registration, with the rest open for same-day sign-up starting at 10am at the market.
It's free, and part of Alberta Craft's weekly programming at the farmers market running May through October.
