AuTash Productions presents a public reading of The Night Travelling Star, a new play running about 80–90 minutes with no intermission.
The story follows four Muslim women who leave the safety of their community for a journey into the desert, guided by the night star. When Fatimeh, an orphan, is excommunicated for an act of defiance, Maryam follows her in refusing to abide by tradition. Their mothers and the community's doctor and Muezzin are drawn into the search that follows — raising the question of whether the women return, or continue on.
Attendees are invited to stay after for a talk-back session, giving feedback directly to the creative team.
Tickets are $12. It runs at Workshop West's theatre space on Gateway Boulevard.
