10 Things to do in Edmonton this Week - September 7-11, 2026

Another packed week on the calendar, and this one's got something for pretty much everyone. Foodies can build their own pizza from scratch at BRiiNE's takeover of Arbour on Whyte, or learn the art of pillowy bao buns from a MasterChef Canada alum. Feeling crafty? There's a hand-cut collage workshop at Alberta Craft, and if you're more into shouting "bingo" over a DJ set while eyeing a free houseplant, Plant Bingo is back for round three.

Rounding things out: a beach volleyball social for anyone missing summer already, and a presentation night at Labo Coffee where strangers pitch their most passionately-held (and wonderfully random) opinions.

Here's what's on in Edmonton this week, day by day.

CURIOUS BREWS: Axel Heiberg Island Ice Core Expedition | Monday

BRiiNE takes over Arbour on Whyte for a three-hour pizza-making workshop and social on Monday, September 7, from 6 to 9 PM. Welcome drinks and appetizers kick things off, followed by a guided masterclass where everyone builds their own custom pie from scratch — dough, sauce, and all the toppings.

Plant Bingo with LIVE DJ | Tuesday

Plant Bingo has arrived in Edmonton! Prizes are plants, DJ sounds from Uncle Jessie and you picking your favourite plant after you shout bingo. It’s a room full of plant-lovers and your chance to win some coveted-greens. Round two sold out lightning fast - and you can get your tickets for round three on September 3.

Bao Sandwiches Cooking Class | Tuesday

Join MasterChef Canada alumna Mai Nguyen for a class on making Bao Sandwiches from scratch. Learn to make soft, pillowy Bao Buns, mastering rolling and steaming techniques, and prepare two classic fillings: braised Pork Belly and Peaches & Shrimp.

Recycled Collage Portraits | Tuesday

Turn old magazines, paper, and other everyday recyclables into a one-of-a-kind hand-cut collage self-portrait in this beginner-friendly workshop at Alberta Craft.

Instructor Hannah Gelderman — a visual artist whose practice centres on hand-cut collage, stop motion, and printmaking — walks participants through simple people-drawing tutorials, so no prior drawing experience is needed. From there, you'll sketch, cut, and assemble your portrait using recycled paper and print materials. Prefer to collage a pet, an animal, or someone else instead of yourself? That's welcome too.

Take a Ghost Tour at University of Alberta | Wednesday

Take a ghostly walk through the University of Alberta campus and hear true stories of hauntings, murders, and unexplained mysteries tied to one of Edmonton's oldest institutions.

The 75-minute History & Haunted Hike covers the university's founding and its notable historical figures, along with the ghost stories that have followed — including the little boy said to haunt Rutherford House and the scientist still seen wandering the halls of the Power Plant.

‘Let Me Explain’ at Labo Coffee | Wednesday

Got a wacky, deeply-held opinion you want to defend in front of a room of strangers? This free presentation night is your stage.

Put together a 10-minute slideshow on whatever you feel strongly about — past topics have included how to eat Vegemite properly, the history of Furbies, and why video game reviews suck — then present it to the crowd, followed by a quick 5-minute Q&A. Spots are limited to 6 presenters, so registering early through the sign-up form is the way to guarantee a slot.

The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer with Leeroy Stagger | Thursday

Currently celebrating the release of their new live documentary, The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer bring their acclaimed blend of blues, rock, and roots music to the stage for a full headlining set. Joining them is acclaimed singer-songwriter Leeroy Stagger, who recently released a powerful new album and continues to be recognized as one of Canada's most compelling roots-rock artists.

Curiousity Walking Tour | Thursday

Edmonton City as Museum Project leads a downtown walking tour exploring the working-class stories that helped build the city. Along the way, you'll learn about Indigenous labour history and the pemmican industry, women workers at the Great Western Garment factory, immigrant contributions to city infrastructure, and key strikes and protests — including the 1947 Chocolate Bar Strike.

Beach Volleyball Social | Friday

No team, no experience, no problem — just bring yourself and some sunscreen. KINETIC LIVING hosts a beach volleyball social at Garneau Tennis and Beach Volleyball Club on Friday, September 11, starting at 6 PM. Whether it's been years since a volleyball or last week, all skill levels are welcome — come solo, bring a friend, or roll up with a team.

Enter the Jazz Room | Friday

The Jazz Room brings the sound of 1920s New Orleans to Capitol Theatre for an intimate evening of live jazz. Musicians and singers work through a set of hot jazz, ragtime, brass, and blues, mixing rehearsed arrangements with room for spontaneous improvisation. Expect standards like "When The Saints Go Marching In," "Basin Street Blues," and "Hello, Dolly!"
