Glow in the Dark Sleeping Beauty Ballet Comes to an Edmonton this Month

Sleeping Beauty is getting a luminous new staging in Edmonton. Ballet of Lights opens October 10 at the Triffo Theatre in MacEwan University's Allard Hall, with dancers performing the classic fairy tale in costumes lit from within. As they move through the darkened theatre, the light moves with them, so every leap and turn traces a glowing path across the stage.

What to Expect at Ballet of Lights

The story follows the princess from the curse to the long enchanted sleep to the kiss that wakes her. It's set to music by classical composers, and the illuminated costumes are part of the choreography itself rather than just decoration.

At about 60 minutes, it's a good length for a first ballet. The Triffo is an intimate venue where even the back rows feel close to the stage, which helps younger kids stay engaged. It's recommended for ages 5 and up. Non-flash photos are allowed, so you can grab a picture of the glow without disturbing anyone.

Showtimes and Tickets for Ballet of Lights

Performances run from October 10, 2026 to January 22, 2027, with 4 pm and 6:30 pm shows. That makes it easy to fit in before dinner or as an early evening treat. Tickets start around $40 plus fees for Zone C, with Zones B and A closer to the stage. Wheelchair seating is available, and the venue is accessible.

If the Triffo dates don't work for your schedule, a second run opens at the Westbury Theatre from December 20 to February 28, which could make a fantastic holiday experience gift in Edmonton.
