Watch 9 Movies on the Big Screen During the Halloween Weekend Drive in at Edmonton Valley Zoo

Halloween Drive-In Movies at the Edmonton Valley Zoo

Horizon Drive-In is bringing a Halloween edition to the Edmonton Valley Zoo from October 29 to 31. Over three nights it will show nine films, from Scooby-Doo to Scream. Costumes are encouraged, and part of every ticket goes to the Valley Zoo Development Society.

Each night has three films. A family movie starts around 7 pm, a crowd-pleaser follows mid-evening, and a horror movie runs late. Every film has its own ticket, so you can choose the time slot that suits your family’s bedtime.

Know Before You Go

  • Tickets: $15 per person per film, plus GST and fees. Kids 5 and under get in free. You can buy tickets at the gate with cash, debit or credit, unless the show has already sold out online.

  • Audio: Sound plays through an FM radio station, so you’ll need a working car radio. You can also bring a battery-powered radio so you don’t have to idle the engine. If your battery dies, staff will give you a boost for free.

  • Arrival: Gates open an hour before each film. Parking is first-come, first-served and sorted by vehicle type, so plan to arrive 30 to 45 minutes early. If your car has daytime running lights, putting on the parking brake turns them off in most vehicles.

  • Food: The concession stand takes cash, debit and credit. If you pre-order online, you can pick up your snacks in an express lane. The drive-in relies on concession sales, so it asks guests to buy food there.

  • Comfort: You’re welcome to bring blankets or lawn chairs and sit in front of your vehicle. Leashed pets are allowed.

  • Weather: Shows run rain or shine. If severe weather cancels a show, your ticket moves to a new date. Refunds aren’t offered, but you can transfer your ticket to someone else.

  • Location: Edmonton Valley Zoo, 13315 Buena Vista Rd NW
