in and out of dark is a new work by Molly McDermott, featuring five Edmonton-based artists. Inspired by macabre children’s stories, the work delves into surreal and nightmarish imagery. When we are afraid, it can sometimes feel pleasurable and other times it crosses a line into something more like fear. Fear has a heavy presence in our world, what if we approach this reality from a place of play?

With heightened proprioception, the dancers stretch time, and push their physicality through space alongside the expansive sound design performed live by Will Scott.
