NorthwestFEARFest screens The Weed Eaters, a New Zealand horror-comedy about a group of friends who stumble onto an old stash of weed with a nightmarish side effect — a craving for human flesh.
Directed by Callum Devlin and channeling the gross-out spirit of early Peter Jackson films, it follows the group's increasingly chaotic attempt to cover up the fallout, having played festivals including SXSW Sydney and FrightFest UK.
The feature is preceded by the short film Slaughter Slate, about a film student whose clapperboard comes to life and turns on the crew.
