Jordan Harrison’s Pulitzer Prize nominated Marjorie Prime plays at the Varscona Theatre from April 9th-19th 2026.
In the future, assisted by innovative AI technology, a family examines their past and burrows into questions of the digital age: will we be any less human, once computers know us better than we know ourselves? Majorie’s new support companion from Senior Security is Walter Prime, an AI version of her long-deceased husband. Her daughter Tess, unsettled and suspicious of the replacement, debates with her husband Jon about which memories to share and which to revise.
The production stars Sue Huff (The Whorehouse Fire of 1921), Ben Kuchera (The Two Battles of Francis Pegahmagabow), Troy O’Donnell (The Royale) and Maureen Rooney (Morningside Road). Marjorie Prime is directed by Amy DeFelice (The Amish Project), with a design by Karlie Christie and Ami Farrow.
“An elegant, thoughtful and quietly unsettling drama. Marjorie Prime operates by stealth…it keeps developing in your head, like a photographic negative, long after you’ve seen it.” — Ben Brantley, New York Times
