Learn to use spices like cumin, coriander, cinnamon, ginger, and saffron to create authentic Moroccan flavours. Begin with Harissa-Spiced Carrot Dip and Zaalouk, Morocco’s version of Baba Ganoush. Next, prepare Spinach & Feta Briouats, delicate filo triangles served with a Harissa Yogurt Sauce. Conclude with a classic Tagine of Chicken with Preserved Lemons and Green Olives, served alongside perfectly steamed couscous. In it, Peter Morin (Tahltan, French Canadian) and Leah Decter (Jewish-Canadian white settler) mark the crossing of paths across time, territories and ancestries through reading aloud as an assertion of Indigenous sovereignty and listening while drawing as a practice of white-setter accountability. Braided-in Rag Rug Workshop
Take part in the centuries old craft that has been used all around the world! Taking discarded textiles- specifically discarded bed sheets in this case, we will be learning the art of braided in rugs- flat weaving ‘in the round’. Clean sheets will be provided but participants are encouraged to bring their own as well! Participants will walk away with a started project and a pamphlet on how to finish their rag rugs at home!
